Angela Andersen was born and raised in Victoria, BC. She is
a painter, printmaker, sculptor and teacher. Angela exhibits her work in
several locations around Vancouver Island, and her work is held in private
collections across Canada and the U.S. Angela received her Hon. B.A. from
McMaster University and her graduate degree in Art Education from the
University of Victoria.
In her recent work, she pays homage to the lushness of the
rich natural environment surrounding her studio, “Painting cannot rival nature;
it is its own experience. Painting is my way of expressing appreciation and
awe. The interactions I have with my subject are interpreted through the act of
painting.” She seeks timelessness in her work; she entices viewers with her
mastery over her discipline and the potential for discovery endures through her
visible delight at the beauty of a line, a tangle, or a story, wherever it may
be found.
Hi Angela,
ReplyDeleteI live in the Cowichan Valley and am also an artist, I regret missing your show at Portals so now, having stumbled across your site, want to take the opportunity to tell you how much I admire your work. It seems we share a passion for our rainforest and for making art. I'm very taken with your knot series - great observation and drawing skills combined with loose confident mark mark making - very fine indeed.
